Patti's Preschool Newsletter, April 2022

Our theme this month is All About Nature. Our lesson plans will focus on bird watching, nature scavenger hunts, nature collages, and leaf rubbings. The children will also be learning about spring weather and the life cycle of plants and animals. Each classroom has butterfly larvae so the children will learn all about metamorphosis. They will see the caterpillars transition into chrysalides and emerge as butterflies!

Book orders are due on Friday, April 8. Go to www.scholastic.com to place your order. Our class code is GW3RF. Please see the front office for more information! We receive points for classroom supplies with every order!

Celebrating birthdays this month are Jacob, Lila, Vincent, Jocelynn, Smith, Zander, Indio, Lily, Cora, Maddison M., and Perry. Ms. Jennifer, Ms. Lauren, Ms. Salma, and Ms. Leicy are also celebrating birthdays this month. We hope everyone has a memorable day!

Ms. Sandy is celebrating her 4 year anniversary at Patti’s! We are thrilled to have her helping Ms. Megan in the front office. Happy anniversary, Ms. Sandy!

School will be closed on Friday, April 15, to give staff extra time to spend with family. If your child is taking additional time off for spring break, please alert the front office. Thank you!

We will wrap up parent/teacher conferences this month. Evaluations will be sent home prior to conference dates. Sign-up sheets will be posted on classroom doors so you may pick a convenient time for a phone conference.

We can’t wait for the Playful Puppy Program on Wednesday, April 6, from 10:00 to 12:00. A little pen will be set up on the playground where the children get to sit down to hold and pet Maltese, Mini Doxies, Westies, Toy Poodles, and Pugs. These purebred puppies are sweet, playful, and perfectly harmless!

Thank you to the many parents who donated items for our St. Patrick’s Day party at school. It was a festive day for all!

We are looking forward to celebrating Earth Day at school this month. We will be teaching our students about recycling, taking care of our planet, preventing ocean pollution, and more! Some of the classes will be setting up recycling centers in their classrooms and others will make their own recycled building blocks. When your child comes home singing a new Earth Day song, you will be inspired to join the next Coastal Cleanup event!

Each year Patti’s Preschool supports Tanaka Farms community fundraiser to assist the farmers whose farms were violently swept away ten years ago by the 9.0 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami. This year the event will be held on Saturday, June 18, at Tanaka Farms in Irvine. This is a fun family event where you will get to walk around a real working farm and try some of their freshly harvested fruits and vegetables. Please go to WalkTheFarm.org for more information!

The children in Room 6 are having fun with the tow truck donated by Jodi and Andy Stephenson. The dollhouse from Lauren Scaccia is a wonderful addition to Room 3. We are grateful for the generous book donation from Lisa and Ryan Diaz. We appreciate the trike and toy donation from Sherrie and Tim Beck-D’Zmura. Many thanks to Lacey Seward for bringing applesauce and graham crackers for a special snack in Room 6. The play kitchen from Julia Wiles and Kevin Ketelslager provides continuous pretend play experiences in Room 1. Thank you, one and all!
