During the first week of August, our theme will be Nursery Rhymes, Mother Goose, Fairy Tales, and Folklore. We are looking forward to hanging out with our celebrity guest, “Rapunzel.” We’ll learn about other cultures around the world during the week of August 7. We’ll celebrate Hawaiian Day on Thursday, August 10, with island music and tropical treats from the Kona Shaved Ice truck. Please have your child wear something tropical to school on Hawaiian Day!

Under the Sea will be our theme during the week of August 14. Mad Science will present a science workshop on “Sea, Sand, and Surf.” Preschool is the perfect time to stress the importance of protecting our oceans! We’ll also be entertained by Franklin Haynes’ Marionettes. The show will be “The Princess and the Pirates.”

Dinosaurs will invade our school when we explore the Prehistoric World during the week of August 21. The children will turn into paleontologists with the help of Education Through Nature on Wednesday, August 23.

Goofy Week is the last week of August and we will celebrate with Crazy Hair Day on Monday, August 28. We’re looking forward to our bubble show on Tuesday, August 29 and Wacky Wednesday on August 30. We will also have Silly Hat Day on Thursday, August 31 (last day of summer camp). It has been a fun-filled summer at Patti’s Preschool!

Celebrating birthdays this month are Ellison, Hudson H., Parisa, Sloan, Skylar, Gavin X., Cash, Henry, Reese, Nathanael, Callard, Noah, Camille, Evelyn, and Camille. One of our teachers, Monique Dominguez is also celebrating. We hope everyone has a very special day!

Celeste Plummer, our kitchen supervisor, is celebrating her work anniversary this month! She has been with Patti’s Preschool for 8 years. Celeste can accomplish several tasks in a short amount of time, always with a smile on her face!

We would like to thank Jenn Spehar for her generous donation of games, books, markers for each classroom and dry erase boards with markers. The classes are enjoying reading the books brought in by Theresa Comins. Thank you Erica Zuniga for the legos and tools, the students love using them on the playground. We are grateful to Janna George for the paper bags. They’ll be perfect for classroom projects. We appreciate all the thoughtful donations!

We’re in need of plastic garbage bags for sending home wet clothes when a child has a potty accident. If you have an extra supply at home that you can part with, please drop them off at school. Thank you!

We’re having Pajama Day on Wednesday, August 2 and Thursday, August 3! Please send your child to school wearing his or her favorite pair of pajamas

We’d like to give a special thank you to Vanessa and Tizoc Ceballos for sharing their musical talent in Room 6 during music appreciation week. Vanessa and Tizoc brought in a guitar and trumpet while their son, Sean, showed his classmates how to play the pocket trumpet!

The last day of our summer session is Thursday, August 31. We will be closed on Friday, September 1 for Teacher Prep Day in order to get ready for our fall session which begins on Tuesday, September 5. Your child may be moving to a new class that day. Class assignments will be posted in front of the school on Friday, August 25.
