Patti's Preschool Newsletter, June 2016
We’re starting the month of June by exploring the world of creative art. Watch for some amazing creations by your Lil’ Picasso. John Abrams will bring his Animal Magic Show (with live exotic pets!) to school on Wednesday, June 8, at 10:30 a.m. Our theme at the end of the month will be America the Beautiful. We’ll show our patriotism on Wednesday, June 29 with a parade on our playground complete with handmade flags and hats! We’re looking forward to a visit from our favorite puppeteer, Franklin Haynes, on Thursday, June 30 who will be presenting “Frankie’s 4th of July” marionette show. We’ve attached a copy of our summer themes so take a look at all the exciting events we have planned!
Scholastic book orders are due on Friday morning, June 10. This will be our last book order for the school year and we’ll offer them again starting next September. Please make book order checks out to Patti’s Preschool or you can easily order online using our class code GW3RF.
Celebrating birthdays this month are Sean Cox, Isabella, Egan, Audrey, Hudson H., Kate, Kooper, Addison, Klarissa, Vivian J., Emily, Arjan, Garrett, Parker, and Adam. Our substitute teacher, Barbara, music teacher, Nick, and Spanish teacher, Lietta, are also celebrating birthdays this month. We hope everyone has a very special day!
Fiona Patterson is celebrating her anniversary this month! Please let her know you appreciate her hard work!
Please join in the fun on Saturday, June 18, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., for the Walk the Farm event at Tanaka Farms in Irvine. Help raise money for the Japanese farmers whose farms were destroyed in the 2011 earthquake. Patti’s Preschool made a donation to be a Crop Sponsor so remember to look for our sign in one of the fields! Go to www.walkthefarm.com for more information.
Many, many thanks to all the thoughtful parents who treated us to so many yummy doughnuts, bagels, muffins, fruit, lunches, fabulous gifts, flowers, and cards during Teacher Appreciation Week. You made it a special week for all of us at Patti’s Preschool!
Watch for some exciting staff changes! Some of our teachers are moving to new classrooms starting on the first day, June 27, of summer camp. Ms. Donna and Ms. Lee Ann will move to the Jellyfish room (#3). Ms. Pam and Ms. Monique will be co-teachers in the Whale room (#6). You will find Ms. Allison and Ms. Fiona working together in the Dolphin room (#5). Our Angelfish room (#1) will be taught by Ms. Aisling with help from Ms. Faith. Teachers, Ms. Annie and Ms. Cathy, will remain in the Starfish room (#2). The Sea Horse room (#4) will continue to be taught by Ms. Nicole and Ms. Rowana. As many of you know, Ms. Emilie, is pursuing a career change and her last day was Friday, May 27. We were lucky to have her on our staff and wish her the very best in the future!
Thank you to Jenn Spehar for her donation of colorful containers and animals for the classrooms. We love the puzzles, dress up clothes, and games the Cornelius family gave to us. Lorrie Nickols brought in scrap paper for all rooms to use. Multiple classes were able to benefit from the Duplos Lietta Strecke donated. Everyone is excited about the sand toys and matching game from Juleah Walsh. The books Lena Perelman donated are being enjoyed by all. We appreciate all the thoughtful donations!
We will be closed on Friday, June 24, for Teacher Prep Day. We will be busy getting ready for our summer session which begins on Monday, June 27. Your child will move to his/her new classroom on that day. Our summer rosters will be posted in front of the school on Monday, June 20. Please remember that your child will be in the new class for the summer and then move up again in September.
We love our Patti’s Preschool dads so we’d like to wish all of them a very happy Father’s Day!
